OVERVIEW
Costa Rica is recognized worldwide for its national parks system, conservation efforts and stable government without an army. They have pioneered the concept of ecotourism. Visit the impressive active volcanoes, rainforests and cloud forests, bird and turtle nesting sites, butterfly reserves and more.

Costa Rica is in Central American with Nicaragua to the north (309 km or 192 mi of border) and Panama to the south-southeast. It borders the Caribbean Sea (to the east) and the North Pacific Ocean (to the west). It also comprises several islands including Cocos Island. Cocos is a place of enchanting natural beauty, and has recently been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

DIVING
Scubadiving in Costa Rica`s waters is adventure diving. While the visibility is generally 40-80 feet there is an incredible abundance of marine life due to the nutrient rich waters flowing up the west coast. Costa Rica is not known for its tropical coral reefs. Instead, you will encounter schools of thousands of fish at every site and the bottom dwellers that are far more abundant and exotic. Moray eels are prolific with different species such as jewel, snowflake, zebra, panamic green and whitemouth.

Mingle with hundreds of swirling hammerheads, white tip sharks, manta rays and even the elusive whale shark off Cocos and Malpelo Islands. Lying 260 miles off the Pacific coast of Costa Rica, journey out to these remote sites on 10-day luxury liveaboard excursions.
