OVERVIEW
Sorido Bay Resort is an upscale boutique resort central to the best diving in the Raja Ampat. Located on a beautiful Cape overlooking a deep kidney-shaped lagoon, your room is just meters away from the world’s most famous dive-site ‘Cape Kri’ where Dr. Gerry Allen recorded 283 different species of fish in one dive. It made this not only the richest dive site known to science, but also the richest house reef anywhere in the world. Sorido Bay Resort is located a mere 1500 meters away from Kri-Eco Resort, around the eastern point of Kri island.

The upstairs floors of the two main central buildings have a spacious lounge and dining area with endless views over the lagoon and islands. Here you can browse through the art shop stocked with authentic Papuan treasures or see WWII paraphernalia collected by the resort’s founder.

You will also find the library well stocked with more than enough reference material showcasing the many species of marine life and of the topside flora and fauna of this amazing area.

Meals are prepared in a modern kitchen using only fresh produce bought locally from the villagers, or freshly caught fish from the local fisherman. Sorido Bay Resort is for the discerning traveler. It is not just another dive resort. Here you will discover people with a passion for Raja Ampat, and a passion for sharing it with the most important person of all: you, our guest.

DIVING
According to Conservation International, marine surveys suggest that the marine life diversity in the Raja Ampat area is the highest recorded on Earth. Diversity is considerably greater than any other area sampled in the Coral Triangle composed of Indonesia, Philippines and Papua New Guinea. The Coral Triangle is the heart of the world’s coral reef biodiversity, making Raja Ampat quite possibly the richest coral reef ecosystems in the world.

After 19 years in we have only just begun to discover the natural treasures awaiting us on each dive. The area’s reefs are covered in a diverse selection of both hard and soft corals. Most of the areas reefs are pristine, with mile after mile of perfect hard corals, drift after drift of Dendronephya (soft) corals of many species and colors ranging from brilliant red, to shocking yellow pretty pink and exotic purple. Most reef dives are very colorful.

The offshore reef sites, especially those near Kri Island are populated with megatons of schooling fish. Many different species school in the current so that sometimes a diver is surrounded by a chaotic mass of fish life. The most common to see are Barracuda, Jacks, Bannerfish, Surgeonfish, Fusiliers, Parrotfish and Snappers. Along, around, and on top of the corals are many fish, some that are considered to be rare in many parts of the world are abundant in the Raja Ampat area.

Wobbegong Sharks are found on many dives, often lying atop perfect table corals like a fish carefully arranged by a chef on a dinner plate. The Epaulette Shark, a small shark only a foot long, is numerous and found very often during night dives in the sea grass or even on the shelf of a wall dive.
PHOTO FACILITIES
The resort is very photographer friendly. Each room has a dedicated table for camera work with good light and built-in sink. The tables are supplied with 110V and 220V build-in electricity outlets.
