Sunset House

Sunset House is set on a coastal road just south of George Town. The rooms are spread out among a quintet of two-story salmon colored buildings, including a restaurant, dive shop and thatch roofed outdoor bar.

Sunset House is favored by divers and snorkelers alike, who appreciate the jagged, mostly rock shoreline and the extensive diving programs. Located a quick 10 minutes away from Owen Roberts International Airport, you can be in your room and out for a dive within the hour of touching down.

The Sea Harvest restaurant has a classic Caribbean look and feel and indoor and outdoor seating. Sip a Caribbean concoction and watch the sunset at My Bar. Thatched and cool, sea breezes drifting lazily through the shady interior, My Bar is the Cayman Islands largest and, at times, the liveliest outdoor bar.

The view from the pool spans just less than 180 degrees including everything from North West Point, 7-Mile Beach, George Town Harbor, and the South West tip of the island.

There are a number of options for accommodations at Sunset House. The most popular are the 18 Oceanview rooms which are spacious and open onto views of the sea. They feature a private balcony looking out through the palm trees to the sparkling Caribbean Sea. The 30 Courtyard rooms have a walk-in patio door and open onto the courtyard.

The 3 roomy Apartments each include a separate bedroom, full kitchen, dining and living rooms, perfect for a family. Two of the Apartments have ocean views. The 2 spacious Oceanview Suites offer lots of room, a private balcony, sofa and bistro table for four.

All rooms come equipped with cable television, telephones, air-conditioning, private bathrooms, patio or balcony and daily maid service. All rooms are non-smoking.

Sunset House has everything a diver could wish for from an amazing house reef, to 6 custom dive boats, to a famous underwater photographer on site. Shore diving is world class with resident turtles and eels and even the occasional manta. Around the island dive dramatic walls adorned with sponges and corals, shallow reefs of fish, small invertebrates and an assortment of famous wrecks, all in perfect 80°F water. Visibility often exceeds 100 feet revealing some of the world's most diverse aquatic life. Grand Cayman is also home to the world’s best 12 foot dive, the legendary Stingray City, and USS Kittiwake. Nitrox and gear rental are available.

Cathy Church’s Underwater Photo Center and Gallery is right on the property. Cathy and her staff teach all levels of photography on ANY camera. They love beginners and enhancing skills and knowledge of experienced who want to improve their underwater photos.
