Captain Don´s Habitat

Founded in 1976, by renowned underwater environmentalist Captain Don Stewart, Habitat has been in the forefront of environmentally sound developments on the island of Bonaire. His vision is also reflected in the design of the resort.

The rooms and facilities are nestled in lush landscaping carefully designed to eliminate harmful runoff into the fragile marine eco-system thriving right in front of the resort.

Iguanas, lizards, over 50 species of birds, and a wide variety of indigenous and imported species of plants and trees, create the perfect balance between world class accommodations and nature at Captain Don’s Habitat.

At the restaurant, enjoy oceanfront dining, and a traditional stone pizza oven. The Deco Stop bar is a favorite watering hole for locals and guests alike.

Captain Don’s Habitat has 24 Deluxe Ocean View rooms with 2 queen beds and a view of the pool and the sea, and 12 Ocean Front Jr. Suites right on the waterfront with pillow top king bed and upgraded amenities.

These rooms all have cable TV, refrigerator, coffee maker, hair dryer, laptop safe, balcony or patio, wireless internet and air-conditioning.

The 16 two-bedroom Bungalows have an air-conditioned living room, and 3 two-bedroom Apartments are fully air-conditioned with lovely garden views. Each has a fully equipped kitchen, 2 bathrooms, in-room telephones, cable TV and large covered patio area.

The split-level two-bedroom Studio Villa has similar amenities and a great view of the Caribbean Sea and Klein Bonaire on the ground floor.

For larger groups there are 3 three-bedroom and 1 four-bedroom Villas with all of the luxuries above and more.

Captain Don’s Habitat Dive Operation is a PADI 5-Star Gold Palm Resort. Over 50 world class dives are within a 15 minute boat ride. Shore diving is a must at Habitat and around the island of Bonaire rated as the top shore diving destination in the world.

The Habitat Dive Operation offers a range of training from PADI, TDI/SDI, NAUI and SSI, and is equipped to handle all of your certification needs including Rebreathers and Tri-Mix.
