OVERVIEW
Located in northern Africa, Egypt is more influenced by the Middle East culturally, and it is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea to the north, the Gaza Strip and Israel to the northeast, the Red Sea to the east, Sudan to the south and Libya to the west.

Defined by the Sahara Desert and the Nile River, the country spans about 390,000 square miles. The vast majority of the population is concentrated in the narrow Nile floodplain, the only arable land in this dry country.

Most noted for its ancient civilizations, who built spectacular monuments such as the pyramids at Giza, Egypt conjures up images of camels and palm trees in the desert and mint tea and hookahs in the market, all of which awaits you along with fascinating cultural experiences.

DIVING
Made popular by Jacques Cousteau in the 1960’s, the Red Sea is still a top notch diving destination with dives sites for every interest.

The northern Red Sea offers many impressive wrecks such as the world famous Thistlegorm and the Carnatic, some encrusted with corals and others with nearly intact cargos. There are also stunning walls colored with soft corals, gorgonians and swarms of reef fish. Other sites offer schools of tuna, barracuda and other pelagics and sharks are not uncommon.

The south is home to fabulous marine parks, most accessible only by liveaboard. Amid the pinnacles, steep walls and swim throughs there are ample opportunities for pelagic encounters including schooling hammerheads, mantas, oceanic white tips and thresher sharks. Of course you will also see pristine corals and a several wrecks here as well.
