Slender and crescent shaped, Vamizi Island nestles within the Quirimbas Archipelago, a string of Islands along the length of Mozambique’s remote northern coast. Just twelve kilometers long and one kilometer wide the island is fringed with gentle shelved beaches. Tucked between exotic, palm-dotted vegetation on an immaculate beach, Vamizi Lodge is the only hotel occupying the island.

The seas surrounding the island are a kaleidoscope of blues providing the most spectacular backdrop to your stay. Snorkeling or diving reveals a myriad of vibrant life beneath the sea surface. Further out in the deep blue, shoals of tuna jumping in the surf allude to the promise of a bountiful catch

Vamizi lodge is a small and intimate sanctuary, offering barefoot luxury. Thirteen superlative and romantic en-suite beach houses are stylishly appointed, and boast a private sitting area and sun deck. 1500 square feet of timbered floors provides ample room for beds, sofas, a marbled shower, vanity, minibar and an outside deck. Being the only lodge on the island, its thirteen Villas are spread apart, each commanding its own section of the beach.

All villas are located on the shoreline, with the option of one or two bedroom units, all with incredible views. The lodges design is all about barefoot luxury, with rooms as open as they can be to catch the natural sea breeze.

Beneath the surface of the Vamizi sea is an outstanding reef scape of mountains, valleys, plateaus and cliffs. A combination of wild underwater landscapes, the bounty of tropical ocean currents and an abundance of marine life makes Vamizi’s diving world class.

A fantastic dive team, with a PADI dive master and PADI instructor, are on hand to guide guests to the best sites. For those who want to learn to scuba dive or just improve their skills the instructors offer a wide variety of courses. With 400 species of fish and 46 types of coral, on dive sites surrounding the island, Vamizi offers diving for all abilities.

With miles of white sand beaches, a wild bushy interior and the ocean at your door step, Vamizi Island has something to do for everyone. Walk the trails through the coastal forest stopping off in deserted sandy coves for cooling swims. Kayak, guided or solo through estuaries of crystal clear water. Feel the wind in your hair while sailing a Hobie Cat or Laser Pico. Visit the local community and experience their lifestyles, customs and traditions. Picnic at various deserted locations, like the lighthouse on the eastern coast. Snorkel the many different sites around the island. Charter a boat for some world class deep sea fishing.
