Vumbura Plains

Description:

Vumbra Plains Vumbura Plains Camp lies in the extreme north of the Okavango Delta, on the edge of a large floodplain where antelope often splash their way charmingly through the water. Vumbura Plains Camp encompasses such a wide variety of habitats and species, that guests can see just about every animal that occurs in the Okavango Delta biome. Magnificent vistas across the Okavango Delta floodplains are a feature.

Accommodation:

Vumbura Plains comprises two separate satellite camps, consisting of 14 rooms overall (two accommodate families). Each large, luxurious room is raised off the ground, with indoor and outdoor showers and an en-suite bathroom. A step down is the lounge area, open on three sides for that iconic view of the floodplains. Additional room features include a private plunge pool and 'sala' – a place from which to watch the passing parade of wildlife or indulge in a soothing massage.

Each camp has its own sumptuous raised lounge, dining and bar area with magnificent vistas across the Okavango Delta, while a deck with comfortable cushions protrudes into the floodplain, either for star-gazing or as a convivial camp fire setting.

Activities:

Vumbura Plains Camp offers both land and water activities, principally nature viewing in varied habitats in open 4x4 vehicles, nature walks, mokoro trips and boat excursions.

While exploring the spectacular ecology of this area, one can enjoy close-up viewing of lion, leopard, elephant, cheetah and buffalo along with all the plains game.

Birding around Vumbura Plains Camp is incredible, with both variety and prolific numbers. The Vumbura area is possibly the only area in the Okavango Delta where one can see red lechwe (an animal that inhabits the fringes of the waterways) and sable antelope (an animal that prefers the dry countryside) on the same game drive.

LITTLE VUMBURA
Little Vumbura Camp is located in a private concession in the northern reaches of the Okavango Delta, in the same region as its sister camp, Vumbura Plains. The beautiful six-roomed tented camp is an intimate escape hidden on a picturesque island surrounded by the floodplains and deep, clear channels for which the Okavango Delta is so famed. Mokoro, boating and game drives take advantage of both habitat and wildlife.
